I guess this is now a thing in TV news.

Jonay Seay-Oliver is a student at Texas Southern University, and for the past couple of months, she has been working as an intern at WAGA, the Fox O&O in Atlanta.

It used to be that working as an intern, especially in a large market, you were basically a “gofer” in the newsroom. You might get to head out with a news crew, or you could be back at the station making beat calls.

But now, you get to go on the air, even in a top market like Atlanta.

Seay-Oliver posted that she has been on air 5 times, just in the month of July, and there are still 10 days of July to go.

Now, you just need to land an internship, and you’re there.
