Musical Chairs in Milwaukee Weather

If you are a weather guesser in Cream City, you might want to double-check which station you're supposed to report to when you wake up. There is a full-blown game of musical chairs happening in Market 38, mostly centered around Scripps’ WTMJ and Hearst’s WISN.

Let's look at the scorecard to keep track of who is going where:

  • The Cross-Town Jump: Lindsey Slater, who abruptly exited WISN a few months ago under a cloud of "not at liberty to discuss" NDAs, didn't stay on the beach for very long. She just resurfaced across town at rival TMJ4, making her on-air debut on June 15.

  • The Morning Shift: With Slater joining the evening block, TMJ4 is shifting weekend met Brendan Johnson to weekday mornings starting July 21.

  • The Exits: Johnson is taking over the morning slot from Tyler Moore, who is packing his bags and leaving the station this month. He’s not the only one heading for the exit at TMJ4; meteorologist Kristen Kirchhaine also announced she’s leaving the Scripps station to move closer to home.

  • More Openings at the Deuce: Over at Hearst's WISN, the bleeding continues. Weekend meteorologist Gino Recchia just signed off for the final time on June 28.

  • Star Derry, who used to be chief met at WITN in North Carolina, has been appearing on WISN.

That is four major weather departures or moves in a single market in a matter of weeks.

If you are looking for a gig and don't mind lake-effect snow, it looks like NDs in Milwaukee are going to be sorting through a mountain of link submissions this week. Get those tapes ready.
