Oh, Nexstar....
/If you look at the bottom on the Nexstar-Tegna.com website, which is run by Nexstar, you will see this.
This website is Nexstar’s way to bitch about how the deal to finalize the Tegna purchase is being held up due to a lawsuit.
But, you you look at the picture on the bottom left of that banner, you see the WPIX studio. Here is the full image.
It seems odd that Nexstar would use a picture of a station, that technically isn’t even owned by Nexstar and is not part of the lawsuit.
But, it is part of a lawsuit.
WPIX is not owned by Nexstar; it’s owned by Mission Broadcasting, which is a Nexstar sidecar company.
It should be pointed out that the FCC issued a $1.2 million fine against Nexstar and a separate $612,000 fine against Mission Broadcasting over Nexstar’s operational control of WPIX.
The FCC found that Nexstar was exercising de facto control over the station through its local marketing and shared services agreements with Mission.
Neither company has paid the fine, as it is conveniently being delayed under FCC Boss and Trump lapdog Brenden Carr.
Using the WPIX picture as part of the Nexstar/Tegna dispute shows that Nexstar is perfectly fine with flexing their violation of the public trust and the law.
