He Did It Again...

Donald Trump is at it again, and once again, a female journalist is his favorite target.

During an interview for NBC’s Meet the Press that aired Sunday, moderator Kristen Welker did what any actual journalist is supposed to do: she asked for evidence.

When Trump started spinning baseless conspiracy theories about the recent California primary being "rigged" and "crooked"—using the fact that California takes time to mail and count ballots as his "proof"—Welker pushed back.

She noted that the slow count is standard procedure under state law and flatly asked him if he had any actual evidence.

Trump’s response? He defaulted right back to his usual playground insults.

Instead of offering facts, he attacked Welker directly, telling her, "You're either crooked or you're stupid."

It didn't stop there. Trump went on a tirade blasting NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN as "one-sided crooked networks" before decides he's had enough of being questioned.

"Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling." Trump said.

With that, he unclipped his microphone, dropped it, and stormed off the set—which was inside a barn in Wisconsin—leaving Welker hanging. When Welker reminded him that she and her crew had traveled all the way to Wisconsin for the interview, Trump brushed it off, telling her she needed to "straighten out your press."

The FTVLive Take:

This is a pattern that isn't going away. Just days ago, Trump went after CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, calling her "a young, beautiful woman who never smiles" and claiming she had "hatred in her eyes." Last year, he hurled a "piggy" insult at Bloomberg's Catherine Lucey.

When male reporters press him, he gets angry. When female reporters press him, it immediately gets personal, condescending, and nasty.

Welker did her job. She didn't let him streamroll the broadcast with unchecked falsehoods, and she remained professional while being called "stupid" and condescended to with a "thank you, darling."

Props to Welker for holding the line. As for Trump? If you can't handle a basic follow-up question about your own claims without throwing a tantrum and ripping off your mic, maybe don't sit down for Sunday morning public affairs shows.

Just a thought.
