Another Longtime Nexstar Anchor is Leaving

FTVLive has heard from a number of sources who tell us that the company has not been renewing contracts for some of their longtime talent, as they come up for renewal.

In Tampa and Nexstar’s WFLA, popular morning Anchor Avery Cotton announced that she is leaving the station. “I’ve decided it’s time for me to step away from television news for now and focus on being more present for my two little boys, Sam and Luke, who are already growing up way too fast,” Cotton said.

Cotton got emotional as she told viewers that her last day is Friday. She said that she is “stepping away from TV news, for now.”

As to if she is leaving on her own, or is being pushed like others have been, we can’t answer that. And, if we’re being honest, I’m not sure you can trust the company to give you the honest answer.

At least one viewer is not happy with Cotton’s exit and has put WFLA on notice as to who will replace her.
