Insiders at WDBJ (Roanoke) tell FTVLive that Morning Anchor Sophia Borrelli, who is expecting her second child later this year, announced on air on Monday that it would be her last newscast and that she would be leaving the station and the business to concentrate on home and family.

Borrelli has been with the station for 4 years. She also worked in Huntsville, Fargo, and at crosstown rival WFXR.

“As news director Mark Ginther seems to be heavily recruiting this year’s college graduation class, this could be the first domino to fall at Channel 7,” said one station insider to FTVLive.

Does anyone else think that it’s odd that an anchor signs off on a Monday?
