Done in Dayton
/Veteran reporter Mike Campbell is retiring from WHIO in Dayton, Ohio, concluding a 40-year career in television news.
Campbell spent four decades at the Cox Media Group-owned station, working across multiple roles in the newsroom. He joined WHIO in 1986 as a videotape editor before transitioning into videography and producing, eventually moving in front of the camera as a full-time general assignment reporter.
A graduate of Cedarville University with a degree in broadcast journalism, Campbell focused much of his reporting on public safety, local government, and the courts. His work in the Miami Valley market led to his induction into the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
News Director Loni Snow stated that Campbell's 40 years at the station represented a long-standing commitment to local accountability reporting and that his presence would be missed in the newsroom.
Reflecting on his departure, Campbell noted that it had been a privilege to spend his career covering the region alongside colleagues focused on public service journalism. He officially wraps up his tenure at the station this month.
