Out the Door at Today
/Frances Rivera, the sole anchor of NBC’s ‘Early Today’ made a surprise announcement on Thursday morning.
Rivera told viewers that she’s leaving TV news after a 30-year career, with 12 of those being at 30 Rock.
This is what she said as she wrapped up Thursday’s morning newscast.
“And this is a special moment for me, 30 years in the making with 12 of those here at 30 Rock. After reaching all my career milestones, I'm ready for my next chapter beyond TV news.
And to leave this career when it feels completely right on my timeline, with a deep sense of fulfillment, comes with such a full heart and so much gratitude.
I still have a few weeks with you before I say goodbye.
That's going to be on June 18th. But until then, I'll savor starting our mornings here with my incredible early today team.
You are beyond incredible. And also, savor being with you. So, a few more weeks of thanking you for starting your morning with me.
I'm Frances Rivera. I'm off for the long weekend, but I'll be back here next week.”
