Superintendent Calls Out Sinclair Station
/A Salt Lake City area school superintendent took to social media to call out Sinclair’s KUTV for a wrong report.
But, the station claims when they reached out to the school district officials, they originally said "off the record" that a tentative agreement had been reached.
KUTV said, “KUTV adhered to the request to keep the information off the record as requested, until Horsley (superintendent) made the agreement public in a video on social media, saying the information had not been verified.”
This is a prime example of why as a media outlet, you should try very hard to never go “off the record”. It would have been better for KUTV, when school officials asked to give “off the record” information, they should have countered with “how about not for attribution?”
That allows you to still use the information, but not attribute to the source giving you the information.
If you follow this advice, you maybe able to shutdown videos like the one below.
