Hearst Station Cop Out

Hearst-owned WESH in Orlando did an “investigative” story which they said, “WE tested pool water at fitness centers and spas in Central Florida.”

When you watch a story on the local news, and especially an investigative story, you expect that you will walk away more informed and with some answers.

Not this time.

While WESH says they tested the pool and spa water at a local fitness club and it failed the test, the station never told you the name of the fitness center.

Won’t you expect that if a station was going to tell you that the water wasn’t safe, they should tell you where it is?

I would hardly label this story as “investigative”.

It’s like reporting that e-coli was found in the food at a local restaurant, “but we’re not going to tell you which one it is,” enjoy your dinner.

If you’re not going to inform the viewers, why do the story at all?
