WOI-TV (Des Moines) held the distinction from WeatheRate as the most accurate forecast for past 15+ years. The station even included it in station branding and show opens.

If you don’t know how WeatherRate works, they supposedly track the forecasts and pick the one that they believe is the most accurate.

Then, they approach the winning station and ask them if they want to pay thousands of dollars to use the WeatherRate branding.

WeatherRate has now chosen KCCI as the most accurate in the Des Moines market and KCCI Chief Met Jason Sydejko bragged about it in a post.

He didn’t mention that the station was not the most accurate for the decade and a half before this.
