Hidden Camera Found in Station's Bathrooms

FTVLive has learned that for the second time in a year, an Oklahoma newsroom has been turned into a crime scene.

The Oklahoma City Police Department is currently investigating after a pair of hidden cameras were discovered inside the dressing rooms at KWTV. Even more disturbing? The cameras weren't just in one spot—they were found in both the men’s and women’s dressing rooms.

According to police reports, a janitorial crew discovered the equipment on March 24th. The setup wasn't exactly accidental; sources say the cameras and battery packs were mounted to adhesive Velcro strips hidden underneath clothing racks within the rooms.

The "spy kits" consisted of:

  • Two hidden cameras.

  • Two external battery packs.

  • Micro-SD cards inserted in both devices to capture digital media.

Griffin Media personnel reported the discovery to authorities immediately, but the details getting around the station are chilling. Word is the primary suspect is a fellow employee—and not just any staffer, but an "award-winning" one.

While "award-winning" is a title handed out like candy in this industry, it doesn't mask the reality of the situation: someone allegedly spent their shift plotting how to violate the privacy of the very people they work alongside every day.

This is the second time in twelve months that an Oklahoma station has dealt with a "peeping tom" incident involving hidden recording devices.

It’s one thing to deal with the stress of a newsroom, the ratings pressure, and the grueling hours. It is an entirely different level of depravity to have to worry if your own co-worker is recording you while you change clothes.

If these allegations are proven true, "sick" doesn't even begin to cover it. We will keep you posted as the OCPD continues its investigation.
