Bouncing in Boston

Boston’s late-night weather landscape is losing its most senior fixture. Cox Media Group’s WFXT-TV announced that Chief Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz will step down from the Boston 25 News weather team, with his final broadcast scheduled for Feb. 27, 2026.

Lemanowicz has anchored the station’s weather coverage for nearly 30 years, a tenure that spans the vast majority of WFXT’s history as a news-producing entity. Since joining the station in 1996, he has been the primary voice for New England’s most significant meteorological events, ranging from historic blizzards to severe coastal flooding.

His departure marks the end of an era for the CMG-owned station, where he was tasked with leading the weather department through several ownership changes and the evolution of digital forecasting. Beyond his technical role, Lemanowicz became a familiar face in the Boston market, known for a delivery style that prioritized clarity over sensationalism during volatile weather patterns.

Station management has not yet named a successor for the Chief Meteorologist chair. Lemanowicz’s exit on the 27th will conclude a three-decade career at the station, leaving a significant vacancy in the Boston market’s evening news block.
