Donald Trump won the election in 2016, mainly because of Jeff Zucker and CNN.

Zucker led CNN at the time, and the network took Donald Trump rallies wall to wall. You could not turn on CNN without the network glowing about Donald Trump.

Of course, now Trump hates CNN and, well, you know.

Nexstar is now trying to use the same CNN playbook.

Insiders at News Nation tell FTVLive that the directive calls for the channel to air Trump rallies whenever he speaks.

“Despite the renewed pushback, the directive remains from higher-ups within NewsNation and Nexstar, and executive producers, anchors, and shows are unwilling to defy it,” said one News Nation insider to FTVLive.

What Nexstar and News Nation don’t understand is that this is no longer 2016. Trump is not running, and his approval rating is at a historic low.

Although, for the struggling News Nation, at this point, they will try anything.
