Signing Off This Week at The Firm
/After a 14-year run as a fixture on morning television, former Atlanta Braves outfielder Ron Gant is stepping away from Good Day Atlanta.
Gant, who transitioned from professional baseball to local broadcasting, joined the morning lineup at WAGA in October 2012. He announced his departure to viewers, noting that the decision to leave the Fox Television-owned station comes as he looks to spend more time with family in Texas, following the passing of his father.
During his broadcast announcement, Gant indicated that while he plans to handle family matters out of state, he intends to maintain a base in Atlanta. His broadcast career followed a 16-year Major League Baseball career, which included seven seasons with the Braves and subsequent work as a baseball analyst.
WAGA has not yet announced a permanent replacement for his role on the morning broadcast.
