Dish Dumps Scripps Station

When Scripps took over WTVQ in Lexington, it started running WLEX newscasts on WTVQ.

Scripps owns both stations and has decided to take away the WTVQ newscasts and just run the same WLEX newscasts on both stations.

Well, Dish Network has removed a WTVQ from its channel lineup, and Scripps is all butthurt about it.

Scripps claims the removal is a “clear violation” of the agreement between the two companies.

“Dish Network has removed WTVQ from its channel lineup, in clear violation of the agreement Scripps currently has in place with Dish following Scripps’ acquisition of WTVQ earlier this year,” Scripps said in a statement.

But, WTVQ is a shell of its former self, no longer offers a stand alone newscast and I can’t say that I blame them for kicking WTVQ to the curb.

Maybe if Scripps spent some money and did not try and be the cheap, the station might be worth something to Dish viewers.
