Bumped Up in Raleigh
/Raleigh-Durham NBC affiliate WRAL has announced an internal promotion, moving Lora Lavigne to the weekday morning anchor desk.
Lavigne, who has been serving as a weekend anchor and multimedia journalist at the station, is stepping into the role previously held by Michelle Mackonochie. Mackonochie is transitioning to WRAL’s evening newscasts.
Lavigne joins the existing morning team of Renée Chou, Chris Lovingood, Elizabeth Gardner, and Ken Smith.
"Lora’s promotion is a great example of the depth of talent within our newsroom," said WRAL VP and General Manager Heather Gray. "She’s a strong journalist who will complement a highly accomplished morning team."
Lavigne joined WRAL after working as a reporter and MMJ at KLFY in Lafayette, Louisiana, from 2017 to 2020.
"I’m truly grateful for this opportunity and excited to continue serving our viewers in the mornings," Lavigne said.
