While we appear to be watching the decline and maybe even the destruction of CBS News and 60 Minutes, let’s take a look back.

In my many years in TV news, I used to say that Don Hewitt was the last guy in TV news to have an original idea. Hell, the guy invented fonts on TV.

Hewitt led 60 Minutes and made it the standout program for a long era.

This is a look back on a guy that shaped the program and CBS.

Right now, he is missed more than ever.
