Boston Met Heads to Fox

Melanie Black is making the jump from local news in Boston to the network level.

Fox Weather President Sharri Berg announced that the streaming service has signed Black as an on-air host. She will be based at the platform’s New York City headquarters and begins her new role today.

Black comes to the Fox-owned streaming service from WHDH in Boston, where she has spent the last three years as the weekend morning meteorologist. During her time at the Sunbeam Television station, she covered Hurricane Lee and various New England winter storms.

Prior to her time in Market 9, Black worked as a morning meteorologist and traffic anchor at KCRA in Sacramento. Her resume also includes stops at KVOA in Tucson, Arizona, and KSNF in Joplin, Missouri.

"We are very excited to welcome Melanie to our FOX Weather family," Berg said in a statement. "Her years of reporting experience in different climates across the country will prove to be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow our best-in-class weather news service.”

Black is a graduate of the University of Arizona and holds a Meteorology Certification from Mississippi State University.
