Signing Off at Fox News

Veteran news correspondent Dan Springer is retiring from the news business, with Friday marking his final day on air. Based out of the Seattle Bureau, Springer was a longtime correspondent for Fox News, covering major stories throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Hired by the network just before the 9/11 attacks, Springer’s career included extensive international reporting. He was assigned to cover the war on terror from Pakistan and Afghanistan, where he reported on the Taliban’s surrender to the United States.

Domestically, Springer covered a wide range of significant events. He reported from Alaska, notably introducing the nation to then-Governor Sarah Palin when she was selected as John McCain's running mate in 2008.

“It’s been an incredible run and I’ve worked with so many talented people all over the country,” said Springer. “But it’s time to end the 3am wake up calls and living out of a suitcase.”

Prior to his work in Seattle, Springer held positions at KTVU in San Francisco, KTTV in Los Angeles, WXYZ in Detroit, KSBW in Salinas-Monterey, WILX/WLNS in Lansing, and WBKB in Alpena.

As for his future, Springer stated, “I plan on taking some down time then starting some new projects in the PNW.”
