What a Crock...
/In an email to the staff, Scripps CEO Adam Symson tries to explain why deregulation and consolidation are good for the industry.
Let me be straight with you, it is not.
When it comes to Journalism, Symson says, that deregulation will help Scripps "expand upon our commitment to deliver local news" Notice crafty wording, expand the commitment, NOT the staff or operation.
He also writes, “As a journalist and fierce advocate of the First Amendment with insight into the economics of our industry, I advocate for deregulation and consolidation because I believe with more scale, we can operate more efficiently, weather economic volatility and strengthen our ability to deliver free, fact-based journalism and programming to every home we serve.”
This is the guy that heads a company that put so many experienced Journalists out of work. He oversaw news on the cheap.
Words are easy to say, but action tells the real story. Here is the full email posted below, but if you ask me, I don’t buy a word of this.
