Nexstar Licks Trump's Boots

If you had any thought that Nexstar would stand up for free-speech and turn their back on Donald Trump, well, you haven’t been paying attention.

Nexstar announced that they would not air Jimmy Kimmel’s show on the company’s ABC affiliates. FTVLive predicted as much and if you think Nexstar is making some kind of stand, you need to put down the crack pipe.

Nexstar only thought process was about money and getting Trump’s FCC to approve their deal to buy Tegna and expand their reach to 80% of the country.

Think about it, because of Nexstar laying down for Trump, they will likely get their deal approved. That means 80% of the country will be covered by a company with no background, which puts money before the First amendment.

This is their cowardly and embarrassing statement that made in regards to pre-empting Kimmel, as the FCC boss told them to do.

“We made a decision last week to preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” following what ABC referred to as Mr. Kimmel’s “ill-timed and insensitive” comments at a critical time in our national discourse.  We stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve.  In the meantime, we note that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will be available nationwide on multiple Disney-owned streaming products, while our stations will focus on continuing to produce local news and other programming relevant to their respective markets.”
