Bay Area Anchor Arrested....Again

Frank Somerville, a former top news anchor in San Francisco, is facing new legal trouble after being arrested Monday on suspicion of felony battery causing serious bodily injury.

According to Alameda County jail records, Somerville was arrested Monday evening. He was released by Tuesday morning after apparently posting bail. Officials have not yet released details about what led to the arrest.

This marks the latest chapter in Somerville's public struggles. He was previously arrested twice in one day in June 2023 for confrontations with family members, with police suspecting intoxication was a factor in those events. Somerville was once one of the most recognizable faces in Bay Area news before a series of personal issues derailed his career.

Sources in San Francisco say that Nexstar’s KRON was talking about possibly hiring Somerville. “The station higher-ups thought by using his name it would be a good way to boost to streaming numbers by giving him a show only available on their app,” said a KRON insider to FTVLive.

My guess is those plans might have since changed.
