"Just Kill Them"

If you have read FTVLive for years, you know that I don’t have much respect for Fox News host Brian Kilmeade. He’s a lightweight, who sucks up to Donald Trump and does not come off as very smart, or as Trump would say, “a very low IQ individual.”

His stupidity was on display last week on Fox and Friends. In a shocking and disturbing segment, Kilmeade proposed the mass execution of homeless individuals suffering from mental illness. During a live discussion about crime, Kilmeade suggested "involuntary lethal injection" as a viable solution for those who refuse state-mandated help.

The stunning comment was made as co-hosts Ainsley Earhardt and Lawrence Jones discussed the tragic murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska. The conversation quickly pivoted to the suspect's history of mental illness and homelessness, which the hosts used to launch a broader commentary on a perceived national crisis.

Lawrence Jones argued for a more forceful approach, stating that the billions of dollars spent on mental health and homeless services were ineffective because many refuse to accept the help offered.

"You can’t give ‘em a choice,” Jones insisted. “Either you take the resources that we’re going to give you, or you decide that you gotta be locked up in jail. That’s the way it has to be now.”

It was at this point that Kilmeade, interrupting his colleague, offered a chilling alternative.

“Or uh, involuntary lethal injection. Or something,” Kilmeade said, his tone casual. He then clarified his position, adding bluntly, “Just kill ‘em.”

Perhaps as stunning as the remark itself was the complete lack of reaction from his co-hosts. Earhardt and Jones, who were passionately discussing the need to remove people from the streets, did not register shock, disagreement, or even surprise. They simply glossed over the suggestion of state-sanctioned murder and continued their conversation as if nothing had been said.

Last week, MSNBC rightfully fired contributor Mathew Dowd for his comments of the death of Charlie Kirk.

If you’re waiting for Fox News to do the same with Kilmeade and his idiotic comments, I’m warning you, don’t hold your breath.

Update: Kilmeade showed up on Fox News on Sunday in an effort to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Also, I don’t buy one bit of this apology. You don’t say “just kill them” and then around and say, I’m sorry.

I’m calling bullshit.

This is what he said in his “apology’, “In the morning, we were discussing the murder of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, North Carolina and how to stop these kinds of attacks by homeless, mentally ill assailants, including institutionalizing or jailing such people so they cannot attack again. Now during that discussion, I wrongly said they should get lethal injections. I apologize for that extremely callous remark. I am obviously aware that not all mentally ill, homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina, and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion.”
