New Bosses Named in The A-T-L

There was a big affiliation switch in Miami this week, next up, it's Atlanta's turn.

CBS has announced the senior leadership team for its new station, CBS Atlanta, ahead of a major network transition in the market.

Beginning August 16, CBS network programming will move to WUPA Channel 69, which will be rebranded as CBS Atlanta. The station's news operation is scheduled to launch in September.

Tom Canedo, who has been leading WUPA as an independent station, will become the president and general manager of CBS Atlanta. A veteran executive with over 25 years in the Atlanta market, Canedo will also continue to oversee CBS's independent stations in Tampa and Seattle.

Joining the leadership team is Shawn Hoder as vice president and news director, effective August 18. Hoder is relocating from his role as news director for CBS Pittsburgh (KDKA-TV) and previously spent seven years in the Atlanta market at WXIA-TV. He has held newsroom leadership positions in several major cities and his work has earned multiple Peabody and Edward R. Murrow Awards.

Barbara Roeder will return to the company as vice president of sales, also starting on August 18. Roeder, who brings nearly 30 years of media experience in Atlanta, previously spent 15 years at WUPA before serving as director of sales for FanDuel Sports Network.
