From Anchoring News to Late Night Talkshow Host
/Move over Stephen Colbert…
Mike Jerrick, a longtime morning news anchor at the Fox-owned television station in Philadelphia, is transitioning from news to entertainment to become a late-night talk show host.
The new, locally-produced program titled "Mike" is set to debut on September 8th. It will air weeknights at 11:30 p.m. on WTXF (Fox 29) in Philadelphia and will also stream on the Fox Local app.
The move marks a significant format change for Jerrick, who is best known as the co-host of the station's morning news show, Good Day Philadelphia, a role he has held since 2009.
The half-hour show will adopt a traditional late-night talk format, featuring celebrity interviews, musical guests, comedy, and skits. Jerrick will be joined by a sidekick, station executive producer Vince DeFruscio. Actor Cillian Murphy is slated as the program’s first guest.
While a fixture in Philadelphia, Jerrick has prior national hosting experience. He was the co-host of the nationally syndicated The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet and has held various roles at Fox News Channel, CNBC, and the USA Network.
