Here’s some friendly advise for those out there at Tegna stations and other stations up for sale, from someone who has been through a couple of mergers/takeovers.

The most vulnerable are news managers, assignment editors and digital producers. The merged stations won’t double up on these positions.

If you see an opening at the station that’s buying you, jump at it. Even if you take a lesser role to start. You’re much safer at the buyer than the buy-ee.

You’ll have several months before the deal is finalized, but those jobs may go fast so act soon.
