Some Props for Peyton
/Yesterday, we showed you a clip of DFW’s Peyton Yager having a bit of trouble getting the words out.
As we said, it happens to everyone from time to time.
One FTVLive reader sent an email to say that Yager’s flood coverage has been top notch.
We thought we would share.
Dear Mr. Jones:
I saw your piece on Peyton Yager’s mouth letting her down. I will say that if you look at her reporting from Kerrville over the July 4th weekend, she was the best among the Dallas stations covering the floods. Ms. Yager managed to convey the facts and the emotions people were feeling those days without overstating the case. Camp Mystic being hit like that was like a gut punch to generations of well-off Texas women whose happiest childhood memories were intertwined with the place. I thought Ms. Yager balanced our need for facts with an understanding of that unique dynamic.
I still shake my head at how poorly WFAA performed that weekend, when I remember their glory days growing up. KSAT in San Antonio had the best streaming coverage by far, however. My hero is still the anchor who called out the authorities for the shameless orgy of self-congratulation they engaged in at press conferences. The reckoning to come over what happened with that disaster will make the uproar over the “Epstein files” seem tame.
Your blog is my first read every morning. Thanks for what you do.
Take Care
