Leaving the Business Part Two
/WMAQ’s (Chicago) Sandra Torres is working her last week at the NBC O&O, and her last week in the business.
Torres took to social media to say, July 4th is her last day.
I have some bittersweet news to share… this will be my last week reporting for @nbcchicago & @telemundochicago. After dedicating 18 years to a career in TV News, I’ve decided to leave the industry.
It’s not a decision I take lightly. I understand how honored and privileged I am to be a part of the NBC 5 & Telemundo Chicago teams. But my priorities have changed. I need to be more present with my family.
Unfortunately, 3 a.m. wake ups don’t allow that. The news cycle is very demanding, and while I’ve always loved my job, it become too hard to balance my professional and personal life.
Anyone who knows me, knows how hard I worked to become a reporter at NBC 5. It was my dream since I visited NBC Tower on a field trip as junior in high school.
I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to spend 12 years with this team… 8 of them as a bilingual reporter for the morning show and 11 a.m. shows on both stations.
I’d like to thank every single person who has trusted me to share their stories all these years. I’m forever grateful for all I have learned and for the special connections I’ve made!
My last day on-air will be this Friday! Yes, on the 4th of July. Coincidentally, my first day on-air ever, was on Telemundo Chicago on the 4th of July, 2007. It feels just right!
