Does Body Cam Video Shows Former Meteorologist Burglarizing Home?
/Minnesota State Senator and former TV meteorologist Nicole Mitchell, known for her work at The Weather Channel and Minneapolis's KSTP, is facing felony burglary charges after allegedly breaking into her stepmother's home on April 22, 2024.
Police body camera footage presented in court shows officers discovering Mitchell in the basement, dressed in all black. Authorities reported finding a flashlight, a crowbar, and a backpack containing two laptops at the scene. Upon her arrest, Mitchell told her stepmother, "I was just trying to get some of my dad’s things because you wouldn’t talk to me anymore."
Mitchell's defense claims she was concerned for her stepmother’s declining health and wanted to retrieve sentimental items belonging to her late father. The prosecution countered that Mitchell entered the home with a crowbar at 4:45 AM, admitted she "did something bad," and has left her stepmother feeling unsafe in her own home.
