News Director Bumped to the Corner Office
/Gray Media has appointed Jessica Laszewski as the new general manager for its CBS affiliate, WSAW, in Wausau, Wisconsin.
Laszewski will move to WSAW from Gray’s WMTV in Madison, Wis., where she has served as News Director since October 2017. During her time in Madison, WMTV’s news programming became No. 1 in viewership, according to a statement from Gray Media.
Under Laszewski's leadership, the WMTV newsroom received multiple RTDNA Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, including for “Overall Excellence” in 2022, 2024, and 2025. The station was also recognized by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association as Station of the Year and News Operation of the Year.
The move marks a return to WSAW for Laszewski, who previously served as the station’s news director. Her career also includes a role as news director for WNDU in South Bend, Ind., and producing and executive producing positions at Wisconsin stations WEAU in Eau Claire, WBAY in Green Bay, and WISC in Madison.
The appointment is effective July 21.
