Heather Gray has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager for Capitol Broadcasting Company's (CBC) Raleigh stations, WRAL (NBC) and WRAZ (Fox). The promotion makes her the first woman to hold the top leadership role in WRAL's history.
Gray, who has been with CBC since 2017, most recently served as the interim General Manager. Her promotion formalizes her leadership over the stations.
In the announcement, CBC stated that the move brings its television, new media, and digital operations under a single, unified leadership structure for the first time.
"Heather’s leadership is rooted in vision, authenticity, and deep commitment to our mission and people," said Jimmy Goodmon, CBC President and CEO, in a statement.
Gray has held several leadership positions within the company, including creative services director, brand director, and station manager. Her career in local media spans more than two decades. Prior to joining CBC, she was the head of marketing and programming at KPNX in Phoenix, where she was involved in launching the station's digital brand and creating an integrated social media news team.
In her new role, the company said Gray will "oversee cross-platform strategy and operations, steering the organization through a rapidly evolving media landscape."
Gray currently serves on the boards of the United Arts Wake County and the Local Media Association and is a former chair of the NBC Station Marketing Council.
