Suing Scripps
/Last August, FTVLive FIRST told you that Scripps-owned KTNV (Las Vegas) kicked Reporter Bryan Horwath to the curb.
In September, FTVLive updated the story,sp-test/2024/9/23/so-what-happens-to-the-money reporting that Scripps had a program called the “Journalism Journey Initiative.” Scripps was given money by tech giant Google, with a goal of taking accomplished print journalists and redeploying them in TV newsrooms. Google made the financial commitment to Scripps to underwrite the newly created program.
In that story, FTVLive wrote, “But now, Scripps and KTNV parted ways with Horwath, so what happens to the money that Google gave Scripps to pay Horwath’s salary since he still had almost half a year on his contract?”
The latest on the story is that Horwath is now suing Scripps.
Scripps fired Horwath, it was played off as he wasn’t doing a good job. But, here is a post that KTNV News Director Jessie Williams posted during his time at the station, praising Horwath’s work.
What was “truly so impressive” one day, became “You’re fired” another day.
Horwath now wants Scripps to pay up.
Stay tuned…
