I Don't Buy That Figure
/There is an interesting story in the Southwest Ledger which says that public records request made by KSWO (Lawton, OK) about emails sent to the Lawton Mayor could cost $67,000 to process.
The paper writes that “Eyes and ears perked up during the Lawton City Council meeting May 27 when it was revealed that it could have cost local residents an estimated $67,000 to comply fully with the first Open Records request that KSWO-TV “investigative reporter” Seth Marsicano sent to City Hall.”
Basically, the station is asking for copies of the Mayor’s emails about the Westwin Elements plant and records from the Comanche County Industrial Development Authority.
Looking at this, I think the Mayor and the city are blowing smoke.
You could run the emails through an AI and get the ones you are looking for. There is no way that costs nearly $70,000.
I think the Mayor and the city are trying to paint the TV station as the bad guy.
