Donald Trump took to social media to whine about our neighbors to the north. Here’s his post, with a bit of fact checking below.

First, he writes that “We have just been informed…” when talking about the Digital Service Tax. It should be pointed out that the DST took effect in June 28, 2024, one year ago.

Canada placed the tax on tech giants, having they pay a 3% levy on revenue from Canadian users.

I don’t believe that any of the huge tech companies will go out of business on a low percentage that they must pay for just users in Canada.

So, because of a tax that was put in place over a year ago, Trump has decided to stop talking to Canada.

It really is like watching a 5th grader.
