Graham Station to Open a Coffee Shop

With local TV on life support, at least one local station might be working on their plan B.

Detroit’s NBC affiliate, WDIV-Local 4, is opening a coffee shop in downtown Plymouth this September. The venue, called “Fourgrounds,” will also serve as a satellite studio and community event space.

The station is partnering with the Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company, which will supply and operate the coffee service within the space. According to the announcement, all products sold will be sourced from local Michigan businesses, and menu items will be named after local Plymouth landmarks.

Fourgrounds will function as a public-facing extension of the WDIV newsroom. Plans for the space include:

  • A daily live broadcast of the station’s lifestyle show, Live in the D.

  • In-store displays showing real-time headlines, weather, and local news updates.

  • Regularly scheduled "Coffee with the Newsroom" events for the public to meet with reporters and anchors.

  • A venue for community Q&A sessions and other civic engagement events.

Bob Ellis, WDIV vice president and general manager, stated the goal is to make journalism "accessible, approachable, and part of the community’s daily rhythm."

Plymouth Mayor Suzi Deal commented on the venture, stating, "We’re honored that WDIV and Great Lakes Coffee chose our city for this unique venture that blends trusted local journalism with our vibrant small-town charm."
