Tegna announced that they have hire Carol Fowler, Julie Wolfeand Chris Peña as vice presidents of content.

How many VP’s of content do you need? Also, what is the role of the Tegna station’s News Directors? Are the ND’s, or as Tegna calls them the Director of Content, just taking up space?

Tegna says that the three hired, will oversee a content priority, such as weather coverage, big stories and events, morning news strategy, sales and sponsorships, storytelling and investigative and solutions-based journalism.

Sounds like what a News Director does at any other station outside the Tegna food chain.
