Crappy Hours in TV News
/When you decide to go into TV news, you know that the hours are awful and you will often work holidays.
One FTVLive reader has grown a bit frustrated with TV newsies who feel the need to complain on social media about their shift at the station.
Here’s the email:
Good evening:
I figure someone like you might understand.
Why do reporters, anchors, meteorologists, etc. who work the 430am-5am morning news have to constantly post about getting up early for work. There is one local powerhouse station in Philly that have several young reporters always constantly doing this. I don’t even follow them, they just show up in the algorithm.
I have been working third shift/overnights on-and-off for the last 10-15 years and I get the hassle but it’s like they are soliciting sympathy from followers. Grow-up!
I have no sympathy for the Today, GMA or CBS because their journalists get paid millions, tons of PTO and cars rides each morning. There is one secondary person on GMA who throws her chauffeured car ride on Instagram stories each morning.
You just don’t see blue collar and first responders posting every other day about having to go to work at 230am. We just do it, go to work and hope HR gives us a pancake breakfast once a year or someone saves some cold pizza for us from the 2nd shift.
Thanks for your time!
