One City, One Shot
/Jonathan Horn was a Reporter at KGTV (San Diego) before leaving the business to be a PIO.
Horn did not bounce around the industry like many others, he started and stayed put in San Diego. “I worked my way up from earning $40 per article at a local weekly newspaper in San Diego to becoming a newsroom leader at a network affiliate in the same market,” Horn told FTVLive.
He decided write a book which he thinks will help those looking to get into TV news. “I believe my path gives young journalists a fresh example of how to move up in the field without uprooting your life. I talk about my path's benefits, drawbacks and ultimately, why I knew it was time to leave TV and take a job as a government PIO,” he says.
In the book he tells stories about:
The rush of breaking news
Being assigned doorknocks immediately after tragedy
How the pandemic led to a mass exodus from the field
How I knew I'd hit the ceiling and it was time to leave
The book is called, “One City, One Shot: How I Made it in TV News Without Uprooting My Life” and you can get it on Amazon at this link. Note: This is a direct link and not an affiliate link, FTVLive does not make a single cent if you decide to buy the book.
