ABC Sacks Terry Moran

I think most of us saw this coming.

Veteran correspondent Terry Moran is departing from ABC News after posting a controversial message on X, labeling President Donald Trump and deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller as “world-class haters.” The network announced on Tuesday that Moran's contract, which was set to expire on Friday, would not be renewed due to the post, which was deemed a "clear violation of ABC News policies." An ABC News spokesperson emphasized the network's commitment to "objectivity, fairness and professionalism," stating that all reporters are held to the highest standards.

Moran's colleagues were reportedly stunned by his Sunday post, which he later deleted. In the missive, Moran asserted that for Trump, hatred was a means to "his own glorification," while for Miller, "hatreds are his spiritual nourishment." The highly critical commentary swiftly led to disciplinary action from ABC executives and public calls for Moran's suspension or termination from Trump administration officials, including press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who called the post "unhinged and unacceptable."

Within hours of the controversial post, Moran was suspended by ABC, with the network stating his comments "violated our standards" and did not "reflect the views of ABC News." Reactions to the incident were largely divided along partisan lines, with pro-Trump commentators advocating for his firing and anti-Trump voices criticizing the suspension as a suppression of "truth about power." White House communications director Steven Cheung also weighed in on Moran's exit, posting, "Talk sh*t, get hit," on X. Moran, a former "Nightline" anchor and ABC's senior national correspondent, has not yet commented on his departure.
