He was Made Famous By Something He Didn't Say
/Billy Bush was riding a big wave. He was just named a host at NBC’s Today Show and was covering the Olympics for NBC as one of his first assignments.
But then the Access Hollywood tape dropped and Bush was out of a job. And it wasn’t even for something he said.
Bush was on a bus with Donald Trump when he muttered the line about how he could “grab women by the pussy” and get away with it.
After the tape dropped, Billy Bush went from the plum job at NBC’s Today, to out of work.
In 2019, he finally landed a gig with Warner Bros entertainment magazine show, Extra.
Now, he’s leaving the show, well, sort of being pushed out, again. Warner Bros needed to cut costs and with Bush’s deal ending, the parties decided to part ways.
Bush says he’s going to work on his podcast, called Hot Mics.
“After an amazing five years hosting Extra, I’m moving on to continue building out my Hot Mics digital platform,” Bush said early in his live podcast on YouTube. He added: “We have experienced unprecedented growth in a short period of time here on this show and I find myself hungrier and more stimulated than at any point in my professional career. Extra is culturally iconic. If I had a dollar for every time someone hollered “Extra Extra” to me in the airport or something, I’d buy Warner Bros.”
