Signed off in Albuquerque

The dean of New Mexico weather has hung up his clicker.

KOAT Chief Meteorologist Joe Diaz has decided that after nearly 5 decades in the business and more than 3 decades at the Hearst station, it’s time to retire.

"I’m incredibly grateful to our loyal viewers, for the trust and support they’ve shown me through the decades. I’ve covered this state and its people with unique storytelling and making families safer with critical weather forecasting. I also owe deep gratitude to KOAT and Hearst Television for allowing me to serve this community I cherish so dearly,” Diaz said.

The station put together this goodbye video.
