Attacking The Weatherman in Dallas

WFAA's Met Pete Delkus is being vilified for interrupting a key "American Idol" moment for a severe weather cut-in.

While this happens many times across the country and severe weather hits, the blame should not be catching all the heat.

The Dallas News did a story on the viewer outrage.

It might have been something in which Delkus could have delayed his cut-in by just a minute. But he’s in the weather center trying to gather the latest info.

Some insiders wonder where was his bosses?

“I am sympathetic to Delkus & his weather team, who are all about broadcasting important info ASAP - but I am NOT sympathetic to his news overlords who should have been paying attention to what was on the air at the time - and advising him to hang on for a second before interrupting network programming,” said one insider to FTVLive.

"When reached for comment, Delkus referred a reporter to the station’s news director, Leslie McCardel, WFAA’s executive news director, said in a statement sent to The Dallas Morning News that the station’s top priority is always keeping communities safe."

“The weather department deserves better defense than that milquetoast statement,” the insider said.
