Crossing the Street in the Twin Cities

Minneapolis viewers will soon see a familiar face forecasting the weather as Meteorologist Wren Clair is set to return to the airwaves on May 19th at KARE 11. This move marks a crossing the street for Clair, who previously served as the primary evening meteorologist at rival Minneapolis station KSTP for nearly seven years before her unexpected departure in February.

KARE 11 president and general manager Doug Wieder expressed enthusiasm about the addition to his team. "We’re excited to have Wren join the team of talented meteorologists at KARE 11. Her expertise in weather forecasting and commitment to viewers aligns perfectly with our station’s mission," he stated.

Clair's exit from KSTP-TV in February surprised many, and she has remained silent about the reasons behind her departure. At the time, KSTP news director Kirk Varner acknowledged her leaving, saying, “Wren Clair is no longer employed by KSTP-TV. We wish her the best with her next opportunity.”

A Hopkins native, Clair joined KSTP's weather team in June 2018 and stepped into the role of primary evening meteorologist for “5 Eyewitness News” after chief meteorologist Dave Dahl's retirement in 2020.

Clair brings a wealth of academic and professional experience to KARE 11. Her educational background includes a Master of Science degree in environmental science and policy from Johns Hopkins University, a Bachelor of Science in meteorology from Mississippi State University, and degrees in chemistry and anthropology from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Prior to her time at KSTP, Clair worked at television stations in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and Boston, where she covered significant weather events, including historic flooding in January 2018.
