This Nexstar Job Opening Goes Against Nexstar Strategy
/As you may know, most of the Nexstar stations do not live stream their newscasts.
The company has cut deals with cable companies which has them delaying the streams of their newscasts for two hours.
So, it seems a bit strange to see this job posting by Nexstar’s WTNH, looking for a “Director of Content-Digital and Linear Operations”
Just some of the items listed in the job description.
“The ideal candidate will drive innovation, foster community engagement, and spearhead initiatives to grow our audience across all platforms.”
“OTT/Streaming Oversight: Lead the station’s OTT and streaming content strategy, including live programming, breaking news coverage, and on-demand content.”
“Industry Awareness: Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital and linear content delivery.”
It should be pointed out that in the market, WTNH is the only statio with no live streaming of their newscasts.
Seems odd to try and hire a digital person to “drive innovation” when they have one hand tied behind their back.
