Freedom of the Press

There is only one job that is mentioned in the Constitution, and that is the job of a Journalist.

The U.S. Constitution's First Amendment guarantees freedom of the press, meaning the government cannot restrict the publication or dissemination of information. This right protects various forms of media, including newspapers, television, social media, and any other news source. The freedom of the press is essential for a democratic society, ensuring the public's access to information and the ability of the media to scrutinize government actions.

I think the key phrase there is “…essential for a democratic society.”

The Trump administration appears to be trying to get rid of our democracy and going after the press is one way to do that.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said she is resuming the practice of attempting to seize reporters' phone recordsin order to smoke out leakers. This is a complete reversal of the policy that former President Biden and former Attorney General Merrick Garland put in place restricting subpoenas of reporters' news-gathering materials.

"I have concluded that it is necessary to rescind Merrick Garland's policies precluding the Department of Justice from seeking records and compelling testimony from members of the news media in order to identify and punish the source of improper leaks," Bondi wrote.

The goal is to shutdown anyone who speaks ill of the Trump administration and stop them from talking to Journalists.

As a Journalist, this should both scare and piss you off to no end.
