Meteorologist Busted on Sexual Extortion Charges
/Former WVIR (Charlottesville, VA) Meteorologist Josh Fitzpatrick finds himself at the center of a criminal storm, facing felony charges of sexual extortion and unlawful creation of an image of another. Arrested in Ohio on April 22, 2025, Fitzpatrick was nabbed on a fugitive warrant after allegedly fleeing Virginia when the investigation began.
Gallia County court records reveal Fitzpatrick was slated for an extradition hearing this morning, as Albemarle County Police continue to unravel the case. Authorities suspect there may be additional victims, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Fitzpatrick, who left his role at WVIR in March, is currently held in Ohio, awaiting extradition to Virginia. Once returned to the Commonwealth, his next court dates will be determined. The investigation remains active, casting a shadow over the once-familiar face of Charlottesville’s weather forecasts.
The Gray station did report on their former employee’s arrest.
This was the email sent to the staff when Fitzpatrick quickly resigned.
