60 Minutes EP Quits

Bill Owens is only the third person to run the CBS News Magazine show 60 Minutes in the past 57 years.

The show will now be looking for the 4th person.

Owens announced that he is quitting 60 Minutes because he had lost his journalistic independence.

“So, having defended this show — and what we stand for — from every angle, over time with everything I could, I am stepping aside so the show can move forward,” Owens wrote in a memo to the staff.

60 Minutes is being sued by Donald Trump, for what Trump called a deceptively edited interview in October with Vice President Kamala Harris that aired on “60 Minutes.” CBS owner Paramount has tried to kiss the ring of Trump, to try and get their sale to Skydance to be approved.

In his memo, Owens wrote, “The show is too important to the country. It has to continue, just not with me as the executive producer.”

Sadly this is paying out at media outlets around the country as greedy executives continue to suck up to Trump and treat him with kid gloves.

60 Minutes has tried to stay objective, but as Owens was continuing to be pressured, he decided to walk.

Journalism needs people like Bill Owens right now.
