This Could Impact Media Companies Hiring Ability
/I got this email from a reader who makes a very good point.
Email:
I see applications for the income-driven repayment plans for student loans have been taken down, and some outlets are reporting the Trump administration plans to nix the plans altogether. (this is separate from the Biden SAVE plan that is being dismantled. IDR plans have been in place for years)
This should set off alarm bells for T.V. station groups.
Why?
Think about how many of these poorly-paid reporters, producers, etc. rely on income-driven repayment plans to be able to afford to pay back their college loans. What are they going to do if they suddenly owe more than they can afford? They're going to have to find better-paying jobs ... that's what.
This could lead to an even larger mass exodus in newsrooms across the country, because you know for a fact these media companies aren't going to pay their staff a penny more.
