FTVLive FIRST told you last month that NBC News was going to name Tom Llamas as Lester Holt’s replacement on NBC Nightly News.

Although we said that this was going to happen years ago, on Feb 25th, FTVLive wrote “Look for NBC News to name Tom Llamas as Holt’s replacement in the near future and try and act surprised when it happens.”

Well NBC made it official. “Tom has the winning combination of journalistic excellence, passionate storytelling and unyielding integrity — all characteristics that have long been trademarks of ‘NBC Nightly News,’” said NBC News executive vice president of programming Janelle Rodriguez. “Additionally, he’s been instrumental in growing NBC News NOW into the leading streaming news network, helping to introduce NBC News to a new generation of viewers.”

I remember nearly two decades ago sitting dinner with TV Agent Rick Ramage, who had signed Llamas as a new client. He was telling me about Llamas and said that one day he would be a giant in the industry.

At the time, I had no clue who Llamas was, and just figured Ramage was spouting “agent talk.”

Looks like he was right all those years ago.
